This is very much a different kind of review to my usual. I would normally give my readers immediate access to the very music I speak of, but this is not, and will not be available on streaming platforms. This limited edition CD and vinyl only album, expertly produced and engineered in a live analogue context by Paul “Doc” Stewart of Tone River, is a step back into the 1950s with an authentic Rock'n'Roll sound throughout. It has been really exciting to watch the meteoric rise of Tex, long term fellow musician and pal, as part of a variety of band line-ups bringing Rock'n'Roll to the masses. You may have had the pleasure of seeing Tex's Rockabilly Riot locally to West Sussex, playing classic hits and this is exactly what to expect on this record. This album is a collection of original songs that take the idea of the genre and stick right with it - no re-inventing the wheel, no innovation - if it ain't broke, don't fix it! It may as well have come out in the 50s and I can pretty much guarantee that you wouldn't know, aside from perhaps the ode to the very over-stretched NHS in 'Surgery number nine'. Clever lyrics, professional guitar, authentic double bass and perfectly timed drums bring all of these songs to life as though you were in a club, surrounded by women in polka dot dresses and men in teddy boy jackets dancing in sync, putting on as much of a spectacle on the dancefloor as the band do on the stage. It's my absolute privilege to share this with you and if you're a fan of the genre (or even if you're not, to be honest), I'd recommend you have a look here to see further info about the band and their tour dates for this year.
