Mia Ardinez - Unholy

There is something deeply unsettling but equally pure genius about this song. Everything from the lyrics to the arrangement, production and artwork create a feeling that hits hard - regarding the mad guilt resulting from a strict religious upbringing. This is something that acutely resonates with me and I'm sure will too for so many others. 'It makes me feel unholy' - even the most ordinary of things can prompt this response. The genre is heavy, with distorted guitars, elaborate drums and if you listen carefully you can hear that Ardinez has kept her vocal almost swallowed by the instruments. Call me a therapist if you will, but I surmise that despite wanting to shout this subject from the rooftops as a full on catharsis, she is still trying to hide behind the noise for fear of wrath. No need to hide any more. We love this, and we want more of it, please!
